British Tourists leading the tourism in Portugal
British ranked at highest number of growth 5.5% and capturing market share of whopping 20.8% in the tourist market in Portugal. Americans growth was 5.5% with market share of 13.7%. Germans are not far behind; they are showing growth of 10.6% with but with a slight decrease of market share of -0.4% in tourist’s market share.

Setubal becoming the hot spot for British tourists
According to INE, exceptional increase of 9.1% in Setubal region is recorded among any other area. Azores has an increase of 7.2%, Madeira at 3.3% and Algarve has a slight increase of 3.7%.

Record Growth from the British
As of 2024’s second quarter, “overnight stays increased by 2.8% (+7.4% in the first quarter), due to non-residents (+4.2%; +8.7% in the first quarter), with residents’ overnight stays decreasing by 0.8% (+4.7% in the first quarter)”, according to the INE.
